Brief History

Initially a public Land property measuring 4.5. acre being acquired by the Govt. of Tripura was handed over to Sri Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Gangail Road, Agartala (which was used to be run by a group of devotees) for running a Model School with the trend of Swamiji’s thought. Foundation stone for the school in the name “VivekandaVidyamandir” was laid on 23rd ,January, 1976 Eminent Educator Madhablal Chatterjee, the then Secretary of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Gangail Road, Agartala was the Headmaster of the said school.

Brief History.

Dhaleswar Campus along with Sri Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama Gangail Road, Agartala was taken over by the Governing Body of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math in the year 1985. When Rev. Swami Shantidanandaji from Belur Math was the Secretary of the centre which was known as “RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, GANGAIL ROAD, AGARTALA”.

Expans`ion

Semi pacca construction work for Medical Unit, Monk’s and staff residence at Dhaleswar Campus started in the year 1991 under the supervision of Rev. Swami Sumedhanandaji, the then Secretary of the centre. Meanwhile centre’s Headquarter was shifted from Gangail Road to Viveknagar and the centre renamed as “ RAMAKRISHNA MISSION, VIVEKNAGAR, AGARTALA” with its 2(two) Sub-centre’s at Gangail and Dhaleswar.
Activities

Activities of Ramakrishna Mission in the field of Medical Service and muiltifarious social welfare work started from Dhaleswar with in-augurationof newly built up Medical unit by the Rev. Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj Belur Math during September, 1996.

Religious activities ( Pujarchana with installation of Portrait of Holy Tiro) started at Dhaleswar on the day of Gurupurnima, the 27th July, 1999. Rev. Swami Snehamayanandaji (Sunip Maharaj) was the 1st monk posted at Dhaleswar

Till 2nd, July 2020Dhaleswar Mission extended its Activities for the distress and needy people through Relief & welfare work, Medical assistance as well as to raise the spiritual excellence of the people as a sub-centre of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar.

Since 2nd. July, 2020Dhaleswar centre named as Ramkrishna Mission, Dhaleswar started its journey as a Branch Centre of Ramakrisnhna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Swami Indratmanandaji (Samar Maharaj) was the 1st Secretary of Dhaleswar Centre.

Activities

The Temple of the centre is open to all sections of people. As part of its regular religious and spiritual activities, Mission conducts.

Religious

Daily worship with prayer in the morning and evening in the quiet atmosphere of the shrine in which monks, brahmachari and devotees participate.

Spiritual and Cultural

During the celebrations specially on Tithipuja of Sri Sri Tahkur, Sri Maa and Swamiji and Durgapuja, Msiion conducts spiritual and cultural activities through day long programme of Bhajan, Padabali kirtan, Music and discourses etc. Mission also arrange from time to time Bhakta Sanmelon and Mantra Diksha for the benefit of the spiritual aspirants.

Medical services are now offered through three primary departments-

Relief work

Whenever required monastic members, Volunteers and staff of the Centre gathered under the banner of Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaleswar for relief of people affected by epidemic or any other natural calamities.Dhaleswar Mission has a record of active participation in relief work specially during the days of Covid -2019.

Sales Emporium

To propagate the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna and spreading the message of Vedanta, Ramakrishna – Vivekananda and Vedanta Literatures including religious articles are available for general public at the sales counter of the centre.
